Folder knowledge: Adding context to folders

How to set up Folder knowledge in Juma to add specialized context for specific tasks while inheriting your Project's foundation

Folder knowledge is a layer of context that sits between your Project knowledge and your individual chats. It helps you organize work by task while adding specialized context where you need it.

What is Folder knowledge?

Inside your Projects, you can create Folders. Folders help you organize your chats by use case, but they can also have their own knowledge layer.

Here's how it works:

Project knowledge applies to every chat in the Project. That's your foundation: brand guidelines, client info, and general context your assistant needs to know.

Folder knowledge is specific to chats created within that Folder only. It's more specialized context for particular types of work.

How Folder knowledge works

Each Folder inherits the Project knowledge (so the AI always knows your client and brand), but adds its own specialized layer on top.

For example, let's say you have a Project for a client called Mindful Bites. You've set up Project knowledge with all the main information about the client. Then you create Folders for different types of work:

SEO Folder: Add SEO outline examples, keyword research, content strategy chats, and SEO best practices.

A/B Tests Folder: Add A/B testing guidelines and best practices for advertising.

Social Media Folder: Add tone guidelines, hashtag strategies, competitor examples, and past social posts.

Paid Ads Folder: Add ad copproy templates, performance benchmarks, and platform specs.

When you create a chat inside the SEO Folder, Juma will reference both your Project knowledge (the client's brand, audience, and general context) and your Folder knowledge (the SEO-specific guidelines and examples).

Why Folder knowledge matters

You get the best of both worlds:

Consistent brand context across all work from your Project knowledge, so every chat stays on brand no matter which Folder you're working in.

Task-specific expertise without cluttering other workflows from your Folder knowledge, so your SEO team isn't seeing paid ads templates and your social team isn't wading through A/B testing docs.

This is especially useful if different departments from an agency work for the same client. Each team can add their specific knowledge to their own Folders without cluttering the main Project knowledge or other teams' workflows.

How to add Folder knowledge

To create a Folder and add knowledge:

  • Go to your Project
  • Create a new Folder (or select an existing one)
  • Click on the Knowledge panel in the sidebar
  • Add files, instructions, or examples specific to that use case

You can upload new files directly, or choose files you've already uploaded to your Context library. The Folder will inherit both the Project knowledge and the Folder-based knowledge automatically.

When you start a chat in that Folder, the AI references both your Project foundation and the specialized Folder context without you having to manually attach anything.

Keeping Folder knowledge organized

Project knowledge and Folder knowledge keep your work organized and the AI's outputs consistent. You won't need to manually attach context every time you start a new chat, and your team can work efficiently with the right context for each task.
