How to change AI models mid-chat and which models work best for different tasks

Inside Juma, you're never locked into one AI provider. Different models are better at different things, so you can switch between them based on what you're working on.

How to switch models

Click the model selector icon in the chat input field to see all available models in your account. The models you have access to depend on your plan. Business users get models from OpenAI and Anthropic, while Growth users also have access to Gemini.

Switching models mid-chat

The cool thing is you can change the model within the same chat. You can use one model for research, then switch to another for writing, then switch again for analysis. Each model plays to its strengths without you having to start a new chat.

For example, you might use Claude Opus 4.5 to research your target audience for a sustainable fashion brand, then switch to Claude Sonnet 4.5 to write Instagram captions based on that research, then switch to Gemini 3 Pro to predict engagement metrics. All in one chat, with the context carrying through.

Two simple rules for choosing models

1. Match the task to the model's strength

Need writing or strategy? Use Claude. It's your creative partner for content, campaign concepts, and strategic thinking.

Need logic or structure? Use GPT-5. It excels at problem solving, structured thinking, and precise formatting.

Need document processing? Use Gemini. It handles long documents, comparisons, and high-volume work efficiently.

2. When in doubt, use Claude Sonnet 4.5

Claude Sonnet 4.5 is your all-rounder for most creative and strategic work. It offers a great balance of quality and versatility, making it the best default choice when you're not sure which model to use.

Which model to use for what

Here's more detailed guidance based on testing. We recommend you try these with your own tasks to see what works best for you.

Claude: The writer and builder

Claude Sonnet 4.5 is your creative partner. It excels at:

  • Writing marketing content like campaign concepts, social posts, email copy, and ad copy
  • Strategy development, like expanding briefs into full campaign strategies
  • Building presentations and structuring slide decks
  • Long-form content like blog posts, articles, case studies, and reports

Use it for any task involving writing, creativity, or building something from scratch.

Claude Opus 4.5 is best for complex reasoning and detailed work. It's excellent for deep market research, competitive analysis, and multi-step strategic planning.

GPT-5: The logical thinker

GPT-5 is your strategic problem solver. It's best for:

  • Strategic problem solving and understanding the why behind campaign decisions
  • Structured thinking and breaking down complex marketing challenges step by step
  • Pulling specific information accurately from brand documents and guidelines
  • Ensuring outputs match exact brand formats and templates every time

Use it when tasks require careful analysis, logical reasoning, or very precise formatting.

Gemini: The document processor

Gemini 3 Pro is excellent at:

  • Processing long documents like brand guidelines, market research reports, and campaign briefs
  • Analyzing and comparing multiple campaign performance reports
  • Summarizing large volumes of customer feedback or research data
  • Creating fast, high-volume work like multiple ad variations

Use it when working with lengthy documents or processing a lot of content. Gemini is also the most cost-effective option if you need to generate high volumes of content.

Testing models side by side

To find what works best for you, open a new chat in the main window and another in the sidekick. Choose different models in each (for example, Claude Sonnet in one and Gemini in the other), paste the same prompt in both, and compare the outputs side by side.

This is a great way to see how each model behaves for your specific marketing tasks and use cases.
